National Wear Red Day

National Wear Red Day This coming Friday, February 5th, 2010 is National Wear Red Day to promote awareness that heart disease is the number one killer of women and men.  In addition to encouraging each of you to wear red that day to support the cause of educating others about heart disease. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has information regarding heart disease and strokes.  

Too Sick for School

Parents, I advise that you ALWAYS check your child in the morning before sending them to school.  Please use these guidelines to prevent the spread of contagious diseases.  Do not leave it up to your child to decide if they want to go to school even though they are sick.  They put the other students and the teacher at risk of becoming ill. Regardless how much they want to come to school if they are sick they MUST stay home.  A sick child can not learn!  

Clinic Information

The clinic hours are 7:15 am- 2:45 pm, Monday – Friday.  Compton Elementary School clinic provides limited care to sick and/or injured students.  I also assist in giving  appropriate medications as provided by a parent and  administer treatments as necessary.  As a registered nurse, I do not diagnose as there are no licensed physicians on staff.  Care is provided according to Cobb County School District guidelines and Nursing Practice Act.  You are more than welcome to call me during school hours at 770-222-3700 x 240 for any questions you might have. 

Meet our School Nurse

My name is Kathy Flowers and I have been Compton’s school nurse for 9 years.  I have 3 children who are Compton graduates and are now in college.  I have been a nurse for 27 years.  I have worked in many fields of nursing but primarily pediatrics.
