Pennies for Patients

Happy New Year!!  We are excited for the new year!  We have a wonderful group of students at Compton on Student Council!!  We have sold candy grams, been escorts on our Building Hope Day, and we succesfully run the school store. 

 

Our next project for January is Pennies for Patients.  For the next three weeks, we will be collecting spare change in order to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphona Society.  Please help us by sending in your spare change.

May 2010

The Student Council has had a very busy year. They have put in many service hours volunteering for various committees throughout the year. The students will have their last meeting and breakfast celebration on May 12, 7:15-8:00am in the Media Center. They will also help out with Field Day afternoon activities on May 14.

 

Pennies for Patients

Students have been sharing their spare coins for the research and treatment of children with blood diseases during the month of February. Students had an opportunity to take a challenge also by estimating the total number of coins, the amount collected and the weight of a 5 gallon jug.  The results were 16,904 coins totaling $429.19 and the jug weighed 105 pounds.

Box Tops

 
  
Thanks to our Box Top counters the Student Council will soon mail in another set of 1,000 box tops. The return funds will be used to purchase school logo mouse pads. Mrs. Gray's class was the winner for the December collection.

Stocking Stuffers for our Soldiers

December 7-18

The council is sponsoring a two week drive to collect small personal size items to ship to our soldiers around the world. Please join us in showing our appreciation for all that our soldiers do for us.

Thanksgiving Can Food Pick-up

The Can Food Drive committee will pick up boxes from classrooms on the morning of November 17. Thanks for all your help.

November 4, 2009 Meeting Minutes

• Council representatives signed up for committees. This month the Flag Detail, Box Tops, School Store and Library Helper were highlighted.

• The new School Store has been a big success. We will be ordering more and new supplies suggested by the students.

• Representatives were reminded to encourage their homerooms to be involved with the Can Food Drive and Thank You notes to our soldiers.

• Open discussion: A suggestion was made to start up our recycling program again.

• A Thank You note was sent to the West Cobb Lions Club for their recent donation of new US and Georgia flags to the school. The council took part in the dedication ceremony.
